P 4, HARD BATTLE & BEST INDEPENDENT!
An excellent fourth place at the end of Race 1, long and hard fought, where Andrea was able to manage the tyres, especially the front and a group of aggressive riders behind him. Best Independent, back to the Parc Fermé, which had been missing since Australia and a race where the best possible result was brought home.
Between Friday and Saturday the team worked hard to identify the areas of greatest difficulty, with the aim of improving them for the race day. In FP 3 Andrea tested the SCQ, the qualifying tyre, going down to the high 28 and closing the gap from the top compared to Day 1. Very good in the first and last sector, more defensive in the central part of the track.
Free Practice 3:
P 1 A. Bautista 1.28.439
P 2 A. Locatelli + 0.150
P 3 S. Lowes + 0.164
…
P 9 A. Iannone + 0.474
In qualifying, number 29 took advantage of the first lap to get into the Top 5, feeling better with the Ducati V4-R set-up in all areas, despite a less than perfect first sector. He came back to the pits for the second time attack, making a small electronics adjustment in Turn 9, but then in the second attempt he was unable to improve, also due to several yellow flags that froze the session. Sixth final place, second row, an excellent start position for Race 1 and SP Race.
Superpole:
P 1 N. Bulega 1.27.866
P 2 S. Lowes + 0.215
P 3 T. Razgatlioglu + 0.293
…
P 6 A. Iannone + 0.665
In Race 1 Andrea starts well, immediately getting the fourth position following a strong duel with Sam Lowes. He takes a slight gap following the pace of Alvaro Bautista, but is immediately forced to manage the front tyre, to avoid it closing. Several riders form the group led by the rider from Vasto; the Maniac defends himself by managing the gap as best as possible, immediately responds to an attack by Gardner, and opening the gap in the overtake hotspot area. Fourth place in the end, a beautiful race with a taste of relaunch, Best Independent, where the Pata Go Eleven team obtained the best possible result today; the first three had a better pace and it would have been risky to follow their pace. Well done Andrea, after two complicated Rounds, it is a fourth place that gives confidence!
P 1 N. Bulega 34’20.705
P 2 T. Razgatlioglu + 2.835
P 3 A. Bautista + 11.424
P 4 A. Iannone + 23.247
Today the biggest limitation was at the front, the SC 1 dropped in the left turns making it difficult to close the line well and stay on the ideal trajectory. For tomorrow the goal is to decrease the drop and close the gap in front again, providing more feeling and confidence to Andrea!
Andrea Iannone (Rider):
Denis Sacchetti (Team Manager):
“It was an important day for us, we needed to turn the page after the last two complicated weekends, and now we have to start again from here. Today Andrea was able to manage a complicated race, bringing home the best possible result. The gap from the top three is wide, and we have to work to reduce it. We have faith in our rider and we continue to follow his indications, hoping to be able to make another step for tomorrow. Getting back to parc fermé is always nice, and being best Independent here in Italy is a great emotion for all our guests and fans!”
