HOT CONDITIONS, LOT OF WORK ON TRACK, TOP TEN AT THE END OF DAY 1!

The Cremona Circuit welcomed the WorldSBK riders with a “summer” sun and temperatures above 30 degrees in the air, almost 50 on the asphalt. Hot conditions and a rather slippery track, so much so that many crashes were seen in today’s two sessions. A lot of work on this Friday on different areas of the bike, reaching the Top Ten at the end of FP 2; close gaps, many riders in less than a second, it will be essential to find a few tenths in view of tomorrow.

In FP 1 Andrea started well, immediately placing himself among the first, but on the third lap a crash slowed down the work program; no consequences and the 29 was able to get back on track after a few minutes. The work, then, focused on the front, trying to provide a greater feeling to the rider. P 12 at the end of the session, without changing tyres.

Free Practice 1:
P 1    N. Bulega   1.29.158
P 2    D. Petrucci  + 0.379
P 3    T. Razgatlioglu   + 0.395

P 12    A. Iannone   + 0.989

For FP 2 the temperatures rose further, making the track more slippery and with less grip. Andrea and Team Pata Go Eleven focused on improving several areas of both electronics and set-up, in the second and third sectors, where most of the gap is accumulated. The first and last sectors were really good, so much so that they were in line with the top of the standings. In the last outing, with very used tyres, Iannone set the best time today, going under 30. Nice step and leap forward in the standings, finishing ninth, a few tenths from the Top 3.

Free Practice 2:
P 1   N. Bulega   1.29.250
P 2   T. Razgatlioglu    + 0.215
P 3   A. Bassani   + 0.390

P 9    A. Iannone   + 0.701

Tight gaps here in Cremona too, where hundredths make the difference; in the evening the data will be analyzed and compared with the work done today, so as to find the best solution to start with tomorrow morning; in Round 04 the qualifying will be held with the SCQ, so in FP 3 the time attack will be tested. Not a very bad day anyway, considering also the Best Lap got at the end of the session, with many laps on the tyres.

Andrea Iannone (Rider):

“Today was quite a complex day. In the morning the track was very dirty and, off the line, there was no grip at all – so much so that I even had a slight crash. We worked hard on different areas of the bike and, in the end, I managed to improve my time without changing tyres. At the moment we are all close in terms of gaps. Now we will analyse all the data well and tomorrow we will give our all to get a good result.”
