BALATON PARK – WORLDSBK LANDS ON THE BRAND NEW HUNGARIAN TRACK!

BALATON PARK – WORLDSBK LANDS ON THE BRAND NEW HUNGARIAN TRACK!

35 years later its last appearance in Hungary, WorldSBK inaugurates Balaton Park, a brands new and recently completed track located on the shores of Lake Balaton, not far from the capital. Round 8 is the last one before a long summer break.

Andrea Iannone and Team Pata Go Eleven spent a day here in Hungary at the end of June riding the V4-S to familiarize themselves with the track, but riding the WorldSBK-spec V4 will be quite different; benchmarks, speed, tyres—many points will be assessed on Friday. It’s a “Stop and Go” layout, with plenty of braking sections with no angle on the bike, ahead followed by chicanes and changes of direction. It’s a track to explore, and it’s difficult to build expectations, given that it will be the first-ever world championship event at Balaton Park. Therefore, on Friday, it will be crucial to get familiar the track and find the right setup, both mechanically and electronically, for the race weekend. Temperatures are expected to be warm until Saturday, with temperatures likely to rise above 35 degrees Celsius, while more uncertain conditions are expected on Sunday. Pirelli has brought to Hungary a selection of compounds already used in other rounds; the choice for the race will be between the standard SC0 and the 125 evolution used in the Portimao Round. An evolution of the SCQ will be available for qualifying. Tyre drop and performance will be assessed tomorrow, as there are no previous benchmarks.

Now all that’s left is to complete the final preparations, wait for the green light, and inaugurate Balaton Park!

Andrea Iannone (Rider):

“We’re at Balaton Park, a new circuit, where we spent a day riding only series bikes about a month ago. It’s a stop-and-go track, with lots of braking sections and chicanes. It’ll be important to find a good setup and power delivery starting Friday. Temperatures will be very hot, so after the free practice sessions, we’ll be able to better understand what to expect from the weekend. I’m excited and motivated to finish the last round before the summer break in the best possible way!
