TOP 3 AT THE END OF BALATON PARK FRIDAY; STRONG DEBUT FOR TEAM PATA GO ELEVEN!
A positive first day at the Balaton track in Hungary for Team Pata Go Eleven; Andrea Iannone finished both sessions in third place, improving significantly from FP1 to FP2, and also finding great consistency across the sessions. One of the best Fridays of the year for the #29, who felt comfortable on the bike from the first laps.
FP1 marked the Hungarian track’s debut; the WorldSBK riders faced no particular issues on the track, also reporting good grip. Andrea started with the 125 rear compound, finding a good feeling on the bike; the first session on a new track is there to find a good set-up on the bike and adapt the electronics settings to the rider’s needs. He finished third, steadily improving his laptimes, taking advantage of an excellent first and fourth sector.
Free Practice 1:
P 1 T. Razgatlioglu 1.39.743
P 2 S. Lowes + 0.404
P 3 A. Iannone + 0.776
FP2 began in much warmer conditions than the morning, which affected the riders’ times; several mistakes and on the gravel happened throughout the session, including two for Andrea. Finding the limit right away isn’t easy, and this track has a lot of straight-ahead braking sections, where making mistakes is easier. However, the rider from Vasto found a good pace again in the afternoon, consistently riding in the top five, comparing the SC0 rear tyre. Toward the end, a small gear adjustment, a new tyre for a time attack, and a strong time in the low 40, which earned him a top-three finish. The margin is still large, and there are areas where improvement is possible; the positive note is that all the best times came while riding alone.
Free Practice 2:
P 1 S. Lowes 1.39.528
P 2 T. Razgatlioglu + 0.446
P 3 A. Iannone + 0.614
Thus concludes the best Friday of the year for Team Pata Go Eleven; in the evening guys will have time to analyze the datas, find a few tenths in two or three spots on the track, and stay focused on finding a good starting position in Superpole!
