WORLDSBK RESTARTS FROM MAGNY COURS – ANDREA IANNONE IS BACK AFTER THE CRASH, FOLLOWING INJURY, AT BALATON!

WORLDSBK RESTARTS FROM MAGNY COURS – ANDREA IANNONE IS BACK AFTER THE CRASH, FOLLOWING INJURY, AT BALATON!

With the summer break over, WorldSBK is ready to return to action with the classic early September event at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. A historic track for Superbikes, the French round attracts lot of fans, who flock to the grandstands at the Adelaide and the final chicane. The Adelaide, one of the most famous corners in WorldSBK, is tricky, difficult to manage, it’s the slowest corner on the whole calendar; the final chicane is the theatre of the final attack, the last hope before the checkered flag.

Magny-Cours, often affected by uncertain weather, is a unique circuit, featuring several variants and a fairly short straight leading to Turn 4. Andrea Iannone has recovered from the injury sustained in the crash at Balaton Park and, together with Team Pata Go Eleven, will be back on track with the aim of fighting for the top positions again. The French track was one of the most challenging of last year, with a solid feeling only achieved at the end of Race 2; last year got a positive fifth place in the wet in Saturday’s race, too. Finding a good setup and configuration right away is the goal for Friday. In terms of tyres, Pirelli has provided a Soft development compound, already used on other occasions (126) and the classic, more conservative SC0, while the Q compound can be used for qualifying and the SP race.

On Thursday, the Vasto rider will undergo a medical check to obtain his FIT; updates will follow on the team’s channels.

Andrea Iannone (Rider):

“We’re back on track at Magny-Cours after a month break from the Superbike World Championship. Unfortunately, I suffered an injury in the last race, and despite starting well, we weren’t able to score any points on Sunday. The French track has a unique layout; last year it wasn’t the easiest. I’ll have my fit check-up on Thursday: I recovered over the summer, and there shouldn’t be any problems. Let’s hope the weather stays stable and doesn’t rain. I can’t wait to get back on track and have a strong end of the season!”
