2026 SEASON; PHILLIP ISLAND OPENS THE WORLD SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP!
The 2026 World Superbike Championship officially opens at Phillip Island! The wait is now behind us; tomorrow, the first Friday of the season, the engines of the production-based bikes will be turned on.
The iconic track on the shores of the ocean, incredibly fast and spectacular, a symbol of motorcycling, will be the ideal setting, capable of delivering close and exciting races. The Go Eleven team will be presenting a new lineup capable of surprising in Monday and Tuesday’s tests at the same circuit; a steady improvement in the four sessions held so far, culminating in a third-place finish. For the race, Pirelli has brought a new rear tyre solution, which should guarantee greater durability, but will need to be tested in the free practice sessions as it is a brand new compound. A derivative of the SC0 will be available for qualifying. Therefore, there are many issues to solve on Friday, also considering the lower temperatures compared to the laps completed so far; It’s worth remembering that the Australian asphalt is one of the most abrasive on the whole calendar, and keeping safe tyres can make the difference in the final laps.
How will “Balda”‘s debut aboard the new Go Eleven double-sided Panigale be? Take note of the schedule and we’ll find out!
Lorenzo Baldassarri (Rider):
“The first weekend of my new journey in Superbike with Team Go Eleven, aboard the new Ducati, has begun. Phillip Island is one of the most exciting tracks in the world, and after the more than positive tests, I’m even more motivated. We’ve found a good setup and good speed, but the next few days will tell what we can do, because so far they’ve only been tests. We’re staying focused; the goal is to bring home the best possible result. I think we can fight for the top spots, but first we need to work hard on Friday and complete our program!”
