P 3 AT THE END OF THE TEST SESSIONS!

P 3 AT THE END OF THE TEST SESSIONS!

Baldassarri and Team Go Eleven confirmed their place inside the top positions at the end of the second and final day of testing at Phillip Island. Fifth place in the morning session, improved with an incredible third-place after the checkered flag in FP4. Excellent pace, a feeling with the bike that improved lap after lap, and good explosiveness on new tyres.

On the second day, the team focused more on understanding the behaviour of the Pirelli 922 rear tyre, which will be used during the race weekend, keeping the SC 1 as a time attack tyre. After a Day 1 focused on gaining confidence, on Day 2 the technicians worked on the bike’s geometry. Each change resulted in a clear improvement, reaching a best laptime of 1:29.4, eight tenths better than Monday’s best time.

Free Practice 3:
P 1   N. Bulega   1.28.880
P 2   Y. Montella   + 0.471
P 3   A. Bassani   + 0.493
P 4   S. Lowes   + 0.532
P 5   L. Baldassarri   + 0.533

In FP4, the “race-ready” bike went on track for a shakedown, ensuring everything was working well. The work schedule then went on, comparing the geometry heights of the V4RS, finding a good compromise between turning and stability at the end of the session. Keeping a top-five finish throughout the session with several fast laps, Balda then impressed in the final time attack, improving his best despite a slower track and a not perfect lap.

Free Practice 4:
P 1   N. Bulega   1.28.630
P 2   S. Lowes   + 0.666
P 3   L. Baldassarri   + 0.698

An incredibly positive two-day of testing for Team Go Eleven, who arrived at Phillip Island without any lap in dry conditions, but immediately found an excellent rider-bike balance, allowing them to get most of their winter work done in just a few sessions. In testing, standing doesn’t matter, but starting at the front certainly gives the whole team a good feeling. Now let’s keep heads down, take the positives, and return to the track on Friday ready to improve even further. These tests were, to say the least, amazing!

Lorenzo Baldassarri (Rider):
“Day 2 went even better than expected. We finally started working on the bike’s setup, finding some interesting solutions. Today I did fewer long runs, but I focused on studying some of my rivals and figuring out where I can improve my riding. I was fast all day, I consistently improved my lap times, and being third at the end of the day really pumps me up. We’ll see where the others are from Friday. We’ll try to improve even more because I feel like I’m just at the beginning. The new Pirelli tyre will also need to be tested, and then at the end of the day we’ll know what our real goal is. By now, I’m just enjoying the two past days and recharging my batteries for a few days before getting back on the bike!”
