BACK TO EUROPE: WORLDSBK RE-STARTS FROM PORTIMAO, ALGARVE!

A month after the amazing season opener at Phillip Island, WorldSBK gets back to Europe, to the adrenaline-fueled setting of Portimao, Algarve, one of the most spectacular tracks in the whole calendar. Up and downs, fast corners, banked sections, and a dramatic “jump” before Turn 10, accompanied by mild, sunny weather, promise an exciting weekend of on-track action.

Team Go Eleven and Lorenzo Baldassarri get to Round 02 excited and motivated by their incredible start to the season in Australia; a podium and two solid performances on a rainy Sunday at Phillip Island have secured the rider from the Marche region fourth in the championship. The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve is a completely different circuit, but the goal remains to find the right feeling on the bike from the first laps and improve to fight around the top five. Some teams have completed a dry test session here, so Friday’s free practice will be particularly important to quickly find the right setup. The asphalt is considered very abrasive, so much so that Pirelli will provide a medium-hard tyre solution, with the race likely being contested with the SC0, while qualifying will feature the SCX. There will be a small change at the front, where there will be an evolution of the classic and reliable SC1.

Lorenzo Baldassarri (Rider):
“After a month, we’re back on track. I couldn’t wait! Portimao is a spectacular track, but also very technical and difficult, one of my favourites on the calendar. Tomorrow, the goal is to find the right balance with the Ducati, so I can get in the top ten, and to have a good base for Saturday. We’ll have to make up for some lost work in testing here, where we faced wet conditions, but I’m confident and want to continue the positive trend from the first race!”
