AUTODROM MOST, WORLDSBK IS HALFWAY BEFORE THE SUMMER BREAK!

Czech Republic, Autodrom Most, a few steps from Germany; WorldSBK faces the Midseason Round before the summer break on a relatively new track within the circus. Here the Superbikes have been racing since 2021, when the races proved to be fun and exciting, with hard battles right up to the finish line.

For 2022 the first part of the track had a “make up”, replacing the old asphalt full of holes, with a new one that appears to be very abrasive. The track is a nice mix of fast corners, changes of direction and hard brakings. Precisely because of the high drop faced by the testers, Pirelli did not bring the SCQ into this Round, forcing the riders to use the SCX, the softest racing tyre, for qualifying. Tire drop management will be essential for the two long races. Last year Philipp was at ease on the ups and downs of Most, achieving a podium in Race 1 in Supersport; this year will be different, he will have to adapt to the V4-R and find the right set-up, with the aim of restarting from Sunday at Donington, where race pace and riding style were in line for the Top Ten. The rookie number 5 it will also have an extra boost deriving from the fact that the Czech Round will see many of its fans and guests, being one of the closest races to its birthplace.

Now it’s time to hit the track and see what the laptimes tells!

Philipp Oettl (Rider):
“To face this track will be a bit different compared to the Supersport, so tomorrow it will be about getting use to the bike and build up a good feeling for the races. I have heard that there is no SCQ this weekend, and the track will be quite hard against tyres, so we have to check it tomorrow. After Donington and WDW in Misano, it’s the third weekend in a row on the bike, and we race just two weekend after Donington, I think this can help us a bit to get the right feeling. It’s a sort of home race for me, it’s the closest Round we have from Germany, so I am motivated, but we have to work day by day!”
